Team Up to Fight Cancer at W-SR Football Game on Oct. 5

Waverly-Administrator | September 25th, 2018

The Waverly-Shell Rock football team and coaches, along with the dance team, cheerleaders and band, are teaming up in a national effort to fight cancer through the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer program at the home football game on Friday, October 5.

W-SR head coach Mark Hubbard hopes to bring awareness to the fight against cancer by involving the players and fans at the game against Xavier. They are asking fans to wear pink along with their Go-Hawk gear in support of breast cancer awareness.

Waverly Health Center and the American Cancer Society (ACS) will be at the game with important cancer prevention and detection information. Pink rally towels with the W-SR logo will be sold for $5 with proceeds going to the ACS.

“Funds raised through Coaches vs. Cancer help the ACS save lives by helping people stay well, get well and find cures by fighting back against cancer,” stated Sarah Foster, American Cancer Society.  “We’re truly grateful for the support of W-SR Rock Schools and our sponsors, Waverly Health Center and Waverly Utilities. Their partnership is essential in supporting our mission.”

Remember to wear pink when you come to support the Go-Hawks on Friday, October 5.

Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the ACS and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers coaches, teams and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Team up with W-SR today by making a donation and helping support the ACS’s efforts to fund lifesaving cancer breakthroughs, raise awareness to help people stay well, and help people with cancer, and their loved ones, get the help, support and resources they need today to get well.
