Danielle and Mark Luhring chose WHC’s ER when one of their daughters was complaining about her arm hurting. The Luhring’s four children and their cousins were playing outside one Summer afternoon when their daughter Adilyn came inside to tell her aunt her arm hurt – Adilyn’s older brother had accidently landed on her while playing in a bounce house. Adilyn was able to move her arm, but it was painful. Danielle and Mark decided to bring Adilyn to the ER.
“The staff that night was great. We didn’t have to wait long and we were put in a private room right away. The nurse apologized several times about the wait as they were busy, but we didn’t feel like we were waiting very long. The radiology tech came right into our room and took x-rays fast and did not hurt Adilyn. The nurse practitioner was very friendly and explained the injury to us thoroughly and in a way Adilyn could understand,” said Danielle.
The ER staff splinted Adilyn’s arm and referred her to WHC’s Orthopedic Clinic. Adilyn had a buckle fracture. She had follow-up visits in the Orthopedic Clinic and with radiology every three weeks until her fracture healed. “This was a new experience in our household. None of us have ever had a broken bone, so Adilyn was kind of the celebrity of the house!”
Danielle appreciated Adilyn’s diagnosis and treatment being done as quickly as possible. She also values that WHC is a close and convenient option. “Waverly Health Center offers all avenues of care that we need for our busy family. It’s nice to have our records connected between our family practice clinic, the ER, and specialty clinics,” finished Danielle.
