The Pugh family found themselves seeking care at Waverly Health Center after their son Kiefer started experiencing flu like symptoms and stomach pains that were quickly getting worse. Upon arrival at the emergency department, Dr. Shover was concerned about the severity of Kiefer’s condition and the stomach pain that wouldn’t go away. Kiefer’s mom, Amber, stated “Dr. Shover is by far the best emergency department doctor we have ever experienced. He talks you through the whole process of what is happening, what needs to be done and the result of the situation.”
After running some tests, they thought it best that Kiefer remain at WHC to get him hydrated and keep an eye on how the sickness progressed. Over the course of the following two days, Dr. Dahlquist and the nurses on the Medical-Surgical floor helped Kiefer get back on his feet. “The attention and care of the nurses were wonderful. They even cracked a few jokes to make Kiefer smile. He especially liked the Spongebob pillowcase he was given,” stated Amber.
Kiefer finally felt better after just a couple of days and was able to make it home to watch the Super Bowl on his own couch as he wished. “We were so thankful to be looked after by the staff and doctors at Waverly Health Center,” finished Amber.
Overall, Kiefer was very happy to be able to recover at WHC, because in his words, “they have better TV channels than at home, and the food is almost as good as his mom’s.”
