Mike and Megan Williams welcomed their third daughter, Natalie Anne, into the world on December 7, 2017. Her mother Megan said, “The scheduled C-Section was by far the best birth and C-Section experience I’ve ever had. The nurses were great, especially Jessica, the lactation consultant. I tried breastfeeding with my son and was not successful. Natalie is now four months old and we’re still breastfeeding. I owe that to Jessica and the other nurses for teaching me and having patience with me. Having help and guidance in the hospital really helped me.”
Jessica Dewey, BSN, RN, IBCLC, is passionate about working with families to help them reach their goals. “Lactation services can begin prior to admission, but I visit with all inpatients during their stay to help them become comfortable breastfeeding their child and to provide more detailed education. I’m also available to meet one-on-one for outpatient lactation services after baby is born,” said Jessica. Jessica’s goal is to help families become comfortable with breastfeeding and make it a positive experience for families. Jessica’s services are available to any breastfeeding child and mother regardless of age or location.
Jessica also leads a Breastfeeding Support Group on the first Thursday of every month from 1 to 2 p.m. at Waverly Health Center and is available to answer breastfeeding-related questions by calling (319) 483-1330.
