Living with chronic pain affects all aspects of your life. For Stephanie Sigler, it was preventing her from experiencing the life she wanted to have. Stephanie was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and physical therapy was one of the treatments chosen to help her find relief.
“When I first started physical therapy with Jennifer Burke at Waverly Health Center, I needed to use a wheelchair to get to my appointments because I had so much pain. It was exhausting me,” stated Stephanie.
Jennifer Burke, DPT, is a certified therapeutic pain specialist for Taylor Physical Therapy. Jennifer commented, “When Stephanie started the chronic pain therapy program, we decided to use the hospital’s warm water therapy pool. The warm water is soothing and the buoyancy reduces the impact of the exercises on her body.”
“The pool therapy was a success,” Stephanie shared. “I appreciate that Jenn was always encouraging me. She believed I could do all the exercises, and I did! She helped me create a better outlook on my future and my life.”
Stephanie stated, “Because of Jennifer and the chronic pain program, I can walk for 12 minutes on the treadmill, use the NuStep for 6 minutes and even do more leg exercises. I am so grateful to Jenn for her support and helping me believe I could manage my pain. It has made a big difference in my life.”
