WHC Auxiliary Names SHIIP Counselors and Volunteers as 2025 Volunteers of the Year
The Waverly Health Center Auxiliary is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Volunteer of the Year Award: our dedicated SHIIP counselors and volunteers. This annual award honors individuals or groups who demonstrate exceptional commitment to volunteerism and the mission of Waverly Health Center.
The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) provides free, confidential support to Medicare-eligible individuals and their families. WHC’s SHIIP volunteers help patients understand their coverage, compare plans and make informed health care decisions. Their service eases stress for countless seniors while saving time and money for those navigating complex insurance options.
In 2024, WHC’s SHIIP team assisted hundreds of area residents with compassion, patience and expertise. Their dedication didn’t go unnoticed.
“Our SHIIP counselors are a vital part of what makes WHC so special,” said Melinda Pitt, Volunteer Services Manager. “They offer not just knowledge, but care and empathy to every person they serve. We’re thrilled the Auxiliary chose to recognize their efforts this year.”
