Kennedy and her husband William Staudt, of Plainfield, welcomed a healthy baby boy named Sawyer to their family in May. Sawyer joins older sisters Charlotte and Grace. All three children were born at Waverly Health Center (WHC).
Staudt is thankful for the providers, nurses and technicians who took part in each of her deliveries. During her labor with Sawyer, Staudt used a birthing ball, dim lighting, aromatherapy, wireless monitors and a large whirlpool bathtub with the support of her care team.
Staudt reflects on her pregnancy and delivery with gratitude. Dr. Daisy Miller and Dr. Brooke Johnson left a lasting impact on Staudt with their care. She credited their knowledge and guidance on helping her make informed decisions throughout her pregnancy. “Dr. Miller and Dr. Johnson care about their patients on a personal level,” she said. “I was able to easily connect with them.”

Sawyer was delivered by Dr. Miller and entered the world directly into his father’s arms. “Having William be able assist in the delivery and catch our son is such a special experience that we love to look back on,” said Staudt.
The outstanding care didn’t end after Sawyer’s delivery. His nurse, Valerie, was quick to notice a complication resulting in an emergency helicopter flight to Iowa City just hours after his birth. Sawyer is perfectly healthy now. The Staudts are thankful for the extra precaution taken to rule out any potential health concerns.
“I will continue to use services at Waverly Health Center in the future,” said Staudt. “The exceptional care shown to me and my family has made an impact that will last a lifetime.”
