For Dr. Sean Westendorf, Christophel Clinic is more than just where he works—it’s the place where he helps patients live healthier, fuller lives. His calling to medicine began early, inspired by his mother, a lifelong nurse, and strengthened through experiences in Waverly Health Center’s Mini-Medical program during high school and volunteering at WHC during college.
“Those experiences gave me a hands-on look at the world of medicine and confirmed that I was on the right path,” he said.
Dr. Westendorf earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. Today, he’s proud to provide primary care to patients of all ages at Christophel Clinic, where he focuses on building strong, long-term relationships with his patients.
“I see myself as a guide,” he explained. “I use my training and knowledge to help patients navigate their health journeys and reach their goals.”
One area Dr. Westendorf often emphasizes with patients is the importance of good sleep. “Many of us underestimate how vital sleep is to overall health. I regularly talk about healthy sleep habits like reducing screen time before bed. Better sleep really can make a big difference.”
Outside the clinic, Dr. Westendorf enjoys life with his wife and two young children. He’s also a big fan of sports, whether watching games, golfing or joining in on a local pickup basketball match.
