In many cases, a referral from your primary care provider is required, especially if your insurance plan mandates it. If you’re unsure, our scheduling team can help determine whether a referral is needed based on your insurance and health history.
Waverly Health Center accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Before your surgery, our patient financial services team will verify your coverage and explain any expected costs, such as co-pays, deductibles, or services that may not be fully covered. If your insurance requires prior authorization for surgery, we’ll work directly with your provider to complete that process.
We’re here to make billing and insurance as easy to navigate as possible. If you have questions about your coverage, need help understanding your Medicare or Medicaid benefits, or would like an estimate before your procedure, our team is happy to assist.
Before surgery, you’ll receive detailed instructions from your care team. This may include fasting, adjusting medications, or completing lab work. It’s important to follow these guidelines closely to ensure a safe and successful procedure.
You’ll check in at our surgical services area, where our team will help you get ready. The surgeon and anesthesia team will meet with you beforehand to answer any last-minute questions. After surgery, you’ll be moved to recovery where we’ll monitor you until you’re ready to go home or be admitted for continued care.
Recovery time varies based on the type of surgery, your overall health, and whether the procedure was done laparoscopically or through a larger incision. Your surgeon will give you a recovery timeline, activity restrictions, and follow-up care instructions tailored to your situation.
After discharge, you’ll receive instructions on who to contact with questions or concerns. Our surgical nursing staff and your surgeon’s office are available to assist with pain management, wound care, or signs that may require medical attention.
