Seven members of the Waverly Health Center (WHC) team have been named May/June Spotlight on Values award winners. Nominated by co-workers, patients and members of the community, these individuals are examples of WHC’s values in action.
Jordyn Woodley of Waverly, Shell Rock Clinic, was recognized for the value of Compassion. Jordyn’s compassionate nature has been complimented several times by patients. Her nominator stated, “Patients have made it a point to tell me how her kindness and genuine interest in their welfare was obvious even over the phone. This made them feel safe and valued as they called us for help, which meant the world to them and is worthy of recognition.”
Keri Lais of Waverly, surgery, was recognized for the value of Enthusiasm. Her nominator commented, “Keri’s enthusiasm never waivers. Neither does her smile or her friendliness. Because of her warm smile and friendly temperament, patients are put at ease quickly. When they are at ease, so is their family. This creates a calming cascading effect from the beginning of care to discharge.”
Kris Weber of Cedar Falls, Women’s Clinic, was recognized for the value of Excellence. Her nominator wrote, “Kris works hard every day to provide excellent and compassionate care to our patients. She manages to keep a sense of humor, thoroughly documents each interaction, and stays focused on providing the excellent care patients deserve. She is an essential team member and an excellent nurse.”
Levi Bridges of Waverly, surgery, was recognized for the value of Innovation. His nominator wrote, “Levi brings a wealth of perspective to the department, not just in his professional experience, but also as a male nurse in what is traditionally a female dominated profession. He is rarely sidetracked by a change in the surgery order or schedule. Change does not bother him at all. He is always looking for ways to make the department lean and efficient. The medical field is ever changing, as we should all want it to be.”
Melanie Wedeking of Clarksville, Shell Rock Clinic, was recognized for the value of Integrity. Her nominator stated, “There are many ways in which we could spotlight the great work she is doing. She goes above and beyond what is expected. We all appreciate her dedication to Shell Rock Clinic.”
Georgene Johnson of Allison and Laura Martin of Cedar Falls, surgery, were recognized for the value of Leadership. Their nominator stated, “They field questions, comments and concerns from their co-workers, other departments and administration. There are so many tasks involved. Additionally, they both work their departments daily as strong nurses and role models. They see the potential for growth in this department, a vision that any facility would appreciate having. They provide guidance to us all so we may be the very best that we can be.”
WHC has adopted six values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation, integrity and leadership. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes WHC employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors.
