Two members of the Waverly Health Center (WHC) team have been named May/June Spotlight on Values award winners. Nominated by co-workers, patients and members of the community, these individuals are examples of WHC’s values in action.
Tony Campbell, Waverly, plant services, was recognized for the value of compassion. His nominator wrote, “I would like to recognize Tony on behalf of my entire family. My mother was recently hospitalized here as a hospice patient and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She wanted to watch the Hawkeye basketball game, but it was not available on the channel listing. My son had a Roku stick that he brought to hook up to a TV so she could watch the Hawkeyes play. Tony went above and beyond, searching TVs in the hospital to find one that the Roku stick would work on. My mom was so happy she could watch the game, and my entire family was so thankful to him for working so hard that it could happen. The compassion he showed to my dying mother and our family will never be forgotten.”
Darin McKenna, Charles City, radiology, was recognized for the value of excellence. His nominator noted, “Darin recently took care of my father in MRI who has been experiencing back pain and has had a rough last year with health. He had never been to WHC and met Darin who went above and beyond to connect with him and make him feel at home with his testing needs. He took the time, was patient and kind and now is the reason my father wants to come back to WHC for his imaging needs in the future. Darin is an expert at what he does and is a true asset at WHC.”
WHC has adopted six values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation, integrity and leadership. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes WHC employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors.
